Understanding we won’t always understand

Understanding that I might not always understand is just about the hardest thing in the world for me to do!  I’m currently out of a job right now.  In the last two weeks i have put in 15-20 applications and have gotten absolutley no response other than “I’m sorry, we are no longer accepting applications” or “someone will give you a call in a few days and let you know the staus of your app.!”  That is the most frustrating thing to hear, ever!  With our economy in the shape that it’s in I definetly understand why its so hard to get a job.  This morning I woke up at 4:30 am and could not go back to sleep.  So I got up and prayed because naturally there was alot on my mind, not having a job and being wide awake at 4:30 am for no reason!  I prayed simply for clarity and direction in this situation, then I picked up my bible!  I was in Proverbs 20 verse 24.  It says “A man’s steps are directed by the Lord.  How then can anyone understand his own way?”  This struck me for alot of reasons.  First, God is God!  No matter what we say, do or think He will always be Himself.  He exsists beyond our space and time so to think we can understand Him or why He does the things He does is silly!  That also is a very comforting truth for me to hear.  I’m very much a person who likes to know he can handle it on his own.  “I got it, don’t worry about it!”  Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you I say that alot!  But to hear, that I can never fully grasp the glory of the God of the universe, is AWESOME!!  I’m not that smart of a guy!  If I was worshiping a god I could fully understand with nothing but a simple read of a few pages then I would be a bit worried.  I’m so thankful God exsists beyond all of this!  Secondly, it made me realize that I was too worried and focused on the wrong things.  I have this opportunity to look for a new job yes, but to pursue God passionatly and truthfully; to begin to grow closer to Him and know Him better.  The awesome thing about God is everytime we start to think we know something, He rocks our world and shows us all new sorts of cool stuff that we can apply to our daily lives!  I truly do serve an awesome God!  It is my prayer today that anyone reading this can set aside any worry they have or any trouble in their lives.  Even anything good thats going on.  It’s my prayer that we are not consumed by things of this world, but we set our eyes to the heavens, and keep the ears of our hearts open to what God has instore for us!
